Who we are

RiCar Garage is a UK automotive DIY YouTube project based in Lincolnshire. Contact: hello@ricargarage.co.uk.

What we collect

When you sign up for a free guide, we collect your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your first name.

When you use the website, basic technical information may be processed by the services that make the site work. This can include your IP address, browser/device information, pages viewed, form submission details and cookie or local storage choices.

Why we collect it

• To send the free RiCar Garage checklist you requested.
• To send occasional RiCar Garage emails about practical UK driveway car checks, MOT preparation, tools, videos and related guides.
• To run and protect the website.
• To remember your cookie or storage choice.
• To show embedded video content when you choose to allow and play it.

Email marketing and consent

RiCar Garage uses clear opt-in consent for checklist sign-ups. The email checkbox must be ticked before the form can be submitted. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in RiCar Garage emails.

Every RiCar Garage marketing email should clearly identify RiCar Garage and include a working unsubscribe link.

Service providers we use

Your details are not sold. RiCar Garage may use trusted service providers to run the website and deliver emails, including:

• MailerLite — used to collect sign-ups and send the checklist and RiCar Garage emails.
• Netlify or similar hosting services — used to host and deliver the website.
• YouTube / Google — used only when you choose to open YouTube or allow the embedded YouTube player.

Cookies, storage and access technologies

The RiCar Garage website may use cookies, local storage, scripts, tags, embedded content or similar storage and access technologies. These are not limited to traditional cookies.

The current site uses local storage to remember whether you accepted or rejected non-essential technologies. The YouTube video area is designed as a click-to-load embed. If you have not accepted non-essential technologies, the website offers a direct YouTube link or a button to allow the embedded player.

The MailerLite form sends your submitted details to MailerLite when you choose to submit the form. At the time of this notice, RiCar Garage does not intentionally use advertising pixels, behavioural advertising tags or analytics tracking. If analytics, tracking pixels, advertising tags or similar tools are added later, this notice and the website controls should be reviewed before they go live.

Legal basis

For email marketing, RiCar Garage relies on your consent. For essential website operation, security and basic administration, RiCar Garage may rely on legitimate interests where appropriate. Where PECR or similar rules require consent for non-essential storage or access technologies, RiCar Garage should ask for consent first.

Retention

Your email details are kept while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your details may be retained only as needed to respect that unsubscribe request and maintain basic records. Website technical logs and consent records should only be kept for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose they were collected.

Your rights

You can request access, correction or deletion of your personal data by emailing hello@ricargarage.co.uk. You can also unsubscribe from RiCar Garage marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any email.

Safety note

RiCar Garage content is general educational information. If the issue involves brakes, steering, suspension, warning lights or anything that feels unsafe, do not guess. Stop and get it properly inspected.
